چکیده
Square-root topological phases have been discussed mainly for systems with chiral symmetry. In this paper, we analyze the topology of squared Hamiltonian preserving time-reversal and particle-hole Our analysis elucidates that two-dimensional class CII host helical edge states due to nontrivial in contrast absence ordinary phases. The emergence modes is demonstrated by analyzing a toy model. We also show surface induced non-trivial three dimensions.

Topological insulator with time-reversal symmetry
It is impossible to have quantum Hall effect without breaking the time-reversal symmetry. xy xy. If we want xy to be invariant under , xy xy, xy must be zero. Q: Can we have other type of topological insulators, in the presence of -symmetry? By saying topological insulator, I mean an insulator with a protected metallic edge. By protected, I mean no matter what we do, we cannot tu...

A topological insulator is a material with an insulating interior but time-reversal symmetry-protected conducting edge states. Since its prediction and discovery almost a decade ago, such a symmetry-protected topological phase has been explored beyond electronic systems in the realm of photonics. Electrons are spin-1/2 particles, whereas photons are spin-1 particles. The distinct spin differenc...

We explore the 32 crystallographic point groups and identify topological phases of matter with robust surface modes. For n=3,4, and 6 of the C_{nv} groups, we find the first-known 3D topological insulators without spin-orbit coupling, and with surface modes that are protected only by point groups; i.e., the relevant symmetries are purely crystalline and do not include time reversal. To describe...
متن کاملSpace-time versus particle-hole symmetry in quantum Enskog equations.
The nonlocal scattering-in and scattering-out integrals of the Enskog equation have reversed displacements of colliding particles reflecting that the scattering-in and -out processes are conjugated by the space and time inversions. Generalizations of the Enskog equation to Fermi liquid systems are hindered by the need for particle-hole symmetry which contradicts the reversed displacements. We r...
